Catwoman: The Animated Series

a little idea ive had for a while, about 6 years. all over a bunch of post-its shoved in a drawer. decided to think about my idea more and do some character designs. my goal wasnt a "redesign", i didnt want to change the characters up too drastic. i pretty much like everyone's "classic" look, but i wanted to use the design elements that i liked and that inspire me. ill post all the characters separate and do a break down.

these wouldnt be the main characters of the series, well, except for Catwoman. they are just the characters that would show up and that i felt like drawing.

Others in the Series

I remembered seeing your art for this a year ago ir so and I wanted to find it again! I love the idea and your ideas are great. I love that Catwoman's "tail" is her whip and that she has whiskers, and how you didn't sexualize Ivy and just made her awesome.

Ivy's creeping me out even more than Scarecrow. I've always thought of Ivy as someone who's sexy and seductive, but then kills you without a second thought. This is good to, though.

exactly, you and alot of people just think of her as a sexy woman. i wanted to bring something different to her. i personally don't see her being sexy, she doesn't need to be, she has the ability to make herself irresistible with her pheromones, so she doesn't need to be good looking or sexy, i want her to be a tad bit creepy and undead looking, but with her abilities, every man still falls at her feet. it's a way better contrast in my opinion.

God, I hope someone creates a cartoon based on this! :D I love all of these character-designs. I especially love Poison Ivy. It's such an original yet classic design. So refreshing. The rest of the characters are awesome too. I love the fact that Catwoman has her whip wrapped around her waist, hanging down from the back and making it look like a cat's tail. Ifell in love with that little detail after I discovered Catwoman from The Batman (cartoon series). I also like the whiskers. I have always thought that the whiskers give Catwoman a playful and naughty touch. I don't know why. So I'm totally in love with your Catwoman as well. :)

I have to agree with DraculasNightmare on Scarecrow's thights though. I think they are a little too "playful" and "light" to be part of a design for a scary character. Those kind of tights with strips are usually something punk rockers wear, and I have never imagined Scarecrow's design to have anything to do with punk. I think Scarecrow should have dark, subtle and organic colours in his outfit. Black and white stripes just don't do it. It's sometrhing I could imagine Harley Quinn would wear.

Aaanyways... I am truly impressed by your work on Catwoman: The Animated Series. I love everything about it thus far. :)

That would be way too awesome if someone did, we can dream right? lol
Im glad you like my designs, aside from Scarecrow, the tights seem to be hit or miss with people. i still like them thought, so ima keep them for now :)

thanks again

jokers looking a little campy but apart from that i love it I've been encreasingly disapointed with scarecrow designs in the batman carttons this one by far is the best makes him actually a creepy character rather than the silver age clown he has become in the animated series

It's not very...Scary. I mean, you look at the New Batman Adventures, that Leatherface mask and the corpse-look, with Jeffrey Combs voice. That's creepy. No matter how hard you try, you can't make something with a Jack-O-Lantern face scary, ESPECIALLY if you give him tights.

i get what your saying, and i see your point.
you kinda prove my point tho, by mentioning Combs voice. in animation your not just looking at still drawing, your looking at a moving, talking character, and you also get context with them. and i think its possible to make anything scary with the right context.

VERY interesting. You give a great point. I have to apologise, then. See, when I saw them, I thought you were just a Burton-fan type, doing it for aesthetic purposes and not for character reasons.

But I see you understand the depth of the character, and I honestly think, with your mindset, Scarecrow is in safe hands. Good luck in this project, dude. Best wishes.
